Tips For Buying a Chainsaw Chain Sharpener

!: Tips For Buying a Chainsaw Chain Sharpener

You can find many types of chain saw sharpeners on the market. They run from the round file, manual operation, to the fancy electric ones that work well for small jobs, to the professional units that you can use to run a chainsaw sharpening business.

The simplest type is a round hand held file that you bring with you to the job site. It is inexpensive and works to get you out of a bind should you ding your chain in the field.

Even professional loggers carry hand held chain sharpeners. They only cost a few dollars, and can save you time and money if you cut wood for a business. You need to pick a file that matches your chain and the teeth pitch. The most common sizes are 1/4" and 3/8" files.

You use the round file along with a hand held guide that fits on your chain to maintain the correct angle as you sharpen your saw. This type is inexpensive and can be purchased for about in many hardware stores.

Moving on up you can buy an electric chainsaw sharpener. These sell for about , such as the Garrett Wade 115V 45T01.01 or the Garrett Wade 45T01.02. You can get these with an automatic chain feed.

Another type of chainsaw chain sharpener is a bar mounted guide. This types of sharpener can be taken with you and used in the back of your truck. The guide is secured to the bar of your chainsaw. These units cost about 0.

Finally, you can buy a professional bench mounted chain saw sharpener. This is what your dealer uses. Unless you are going into the business this probably wont pay for itself because you do not want to get a cheap model. The less expensive units do not cut the curved shape of the tooth.

If you do any amount of work with a chainsaw, buying a hand held sharpener to use on a regular basis between professional sharpenings will be the best investment you can make.

Choosing the Right Weed Wacker

!: Choosing the Right Weed Wacker

There are always sections that a lawn mower cannot get to, regardless of the size of the lawn. For this reason, a weed wacker is a good tool to have. There are three types of trimmers to consider before purchasing one; electric, gas and cordless.

The obvious benefit of electric weed eaters is the ease of use. This machine needs only to be plugged in and is ready to use. Another benefit is that this type is lighter, thus, more people can manage it. For the average yard, this kind of weed eater is a good choice because there is no running out of gas or waiting for a battery to recharge. A disadvantage, however, is that these machines are not as powerful as the ones that run on gas so hardier plants may have to be pulled by hands. The cord can also be a problem; there is always the chance of running over it, they tend to unplug at times and it can be a hassle flipping it from one side to the other so that the lawn can be worked on.

Gas trimmers are the most powerful weed eaters. They are great for thick grasses, rubbery vines or persistent plants. Another advantage is that there is no power cord to deal with. On the downside, however, these machines run on gas. Therefore, gas has to be purchased which takes additional time and money. If the machine runs out of it then the lawn does not get finished. Because they are powerful, and filled with gas, these machines cannot be handled by as many people due to the weight as well as the gas inside of it.

Cordless trimmers operate on electricity. They are lightweight, easily handled and can get at most weeds. They do not need to be plugged in or filled with gas. These machines have a battery and need to be charged. A disadvantage is that the charges only last around thirty minutes after which they need to be charged again. This kind of machine works wonderfully for smaller yards or yards that do not have many weeds. It would probably have to be recharged if working on a larger yard, however, or one with a higher density of weed which would make the yard work take longer.

Considerations before choosing the right weed wacker are the size of the yard, the amount of weeds, the person who will be using it and the amount of money to be spent. Regardless, a beautiful yard will be the result of a good trimmer.
